Ponant Unveils New Yachting Division and Luxury Vessel for 2026

Ponant Explorations Group has launched a new brand, Ponant Yachting, focusing on luxury sailing experiences that combine exclusivity, sophistication, and personalized service. This initiative highlights the company's expertise in delivering intimate maritime journeys. Alongside this, Ponant has announced the addition of a new catamaran, Spirit of Ponant II, to its fleet, set to begin operations in late 2026 in French Polynesia and the South Pacific.

A New Era of Luxury Sailing

The introduction of Ponant Yachting builds on the success of the Spirit of Ponant, a luxury catamaran launched in 2024. This new brand targets a niche market, offering tailor-made voyages for families and small groups of friends. According to Hervé Gastinel, CEO of Ponant Explorations Group, the brand aims to provide unique, customized experiences, from curated itineraries to gourmet dining and exclusive excursions. "Our goal is to create intimate, sophisticated, and sustainable voyages that cater to individual preferences," Gastinel said.

The Spirit of Ponant II, constructed by Lagoon, is part of the innovative Lagoon EIGHTY 2 series. Measuring 24.97 meters in length and 11 meters in width, the vessel offers 427 square meters of living space and can accommodate up to 10 guests in five double staterooms. Designed for private charters, it will be available starting at $74,930, excluding flights, fuel, dining, and beverages.

Tailored Experiences and Exclusive Features

Ponant Yachting emphasizes all-inclusive experiences, with a crew of four, including a captain, first mate, chef, and hostess, ensuring personalized service. Guests can enjoy custom itineraries, refined cuisine, and a curated selection of wines and cocktails. The vessels also provide a variety of water-based activities, such as stand-up paddleboarding, snorkeling, water skiing, wing foiling, Tiwal sailing, and Sublue diving with underwater scooters. These offerings cater to adventure-seekers and those looking for a luxurious, active vacation.

By late 2026, Ponant Yachting will operate three catamarans: Spirit of Ponant, La Désirade, and Spirit of Ponant II. Each vessel accommodates nine to 12 guests and provides access to secluded anchorages in destinations like the Mediterranean, Seychelles, Caribbean, and Polynesia. The small size of these catamarans allows for flexible itineraries tailored to guests' preferences and adjusted based on weather conditions.

Commitment to Sustainability and French Excellence

The Spirit of Ponant II reflects Ponant's commitment to sustainable tourism and high-quality craftsmanship. Built in France, the catamaran combines contemporary design with exceptional comfort, aligning with the company's focus on responsible travel. The project strengthens Ponant's partnership with Lagoon, the Bénéteau Group, and Sailoé, all of whom share a dedication to innovative and eco-conscious sailing.

Sailoé's expertise supports the vessel's operations across its destinations, ensuring seamless experiences for guests. The collaboration underscores a shared vision of delivering French-style excellence in luxury maritime travel.

Implications for Maritime Professionals

For seafarers, the launch of Ponant Yachting and the Spirit of Ponant II presents new opportunities in the luxury yachting sector. Operating a high-end catamaran requires specialized skills, including navigation in remote areas, crew coordination, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. Mariners interested in working with Ponant Yachting should focus on developing expertise in small-vessel operations, customer service, and sustainable practices. Familiarity with the South Pacific's unique navigational challenges, such as coral reefs and variable weather patterns, will be essential for roles on the Spirit of Ponant II.

The vessel's maiden voyage in late 2026 will mark a significant milestone for Ponant, further establishing its presence in the luxury sailing market. As the company expands its fleet and refines its offerings, it continues to set a standard for intimate, high-end maritime experiences.
