How It Works

Registration

Step 1: Create an Account
Click the "Sign Up" or "Join Now" button on the main page. You can register using your email and a password, or for a quicker process, sign up with your Google account.

Step 2: Choose Your Role
After your first login, you will be asked to choose your role. Select "Sailor" to proceed with setting up your seafarer profile.

Step 3: Specify Your Specialization
To help us find the right content and job opportunities for you, you'll need to select your current or desired job position (e.g., Deck Officer, Motorman) and the types of vessels you have experience on (e.g., Tanker, Bulk Carrier). This creates your first "cabinet" in the Knowledge Trainer.

Step 4: Complete Your Profile
That's it for the initial setup! We recommend visiting your profile page to add more details, upload your maritime documents, and build a comprehensive CV to make your profile stand out to employers.

Employer Registration

Step 1: Start Registration
Click the "Join Now" button, often found in sections dedicated to employers, or choose the "Employer" role during the general sign-up process.

Step 2: Provide Company Information
Fill out the registration form with your company's details, including the company name, contact information, and a brief description. This helps create your company profile on our platform.

Step 3: Verify Your Account
We may require a verification step to ensure the authenticity of employer accounts. Follow the on-screen instructions or check your email for a verification link.

Step 4: Start Recruiting
Once your account is set up and verified, you can immediately start posting job vacancies, searching our database for qualified seafarers, and managing your recruitment process through your dashboard.

Trainer

The Knowledge Trainer is an intelligent system for self-assessment and preparation for certification exams.

How it works:
1. Choose a Cabinet: A "cabinet" is a combination of your job position and the types of vessels you work on. You can create multiple cabinets for different specializations.
2. Select a Mode: You can train in "Random Mode" across all your purchased STCW courses or select a specific course to focus on.
3. Answer Questions: The trainer will present you with questions. Your goal is to answer them correctly.
4. Work on Mistakes: If you answer incorrectly, the question is marked as a mistake. You can review and correct your mistakes in a dedicated mode to reinforce your knowledge.
5. Track Progress: Your progress, accuracy, and star rating are tracked for each cabinet, helping you see your strengths and weaknesses.

Courses

The S.A.I.L. platform offers a wide range of professional maritime courses designed to help seafarers meet STCW requirements, enhance their skills, and advance their careers.

How it works:
1. Browse and Select: Explore our catalog of STCW-certified courses covering various topics from basic safety to advanced operations. Each course includes detailed descriptions, modules, and learning objectives.
2. Learn at Your Pace: Access interactive lessons, video tutorials, and study materials. Our courses are designed for flexible learning, allowing you to study anytime, anywhere.
3. Prepare for Certification: Many courses include quizzes and practice exams to test your knowledge. Upon successful completion of a course and its final exam, you will receive a S.A.I.L. certificate, which can be added to your professional profile.
4. Stay Updated: Our course content is regularly updated to reflect the latest industry standards and regulations, ensuring you always have access to the most current information.

Interview Simulator

The Interview Simulator is a unique tool that helps you prepare for real job interviews with shipping companies. It uses an AI-powered virtual interviewer to conduct a realistic interview session based on your chosen job position.

How it works:
1. Select a Position: Choose the job title you are applying for (e.g., Chief Officer, 2nd Engineer).
2. Start the Interview: The AI interviewer will ask you a series of questions relevant to your position, one by one. The questions are delivered via audio to simulate a real conversation.
3. Record Your Answer: Use the "Hold to Speak" button to record your answer using your microphone. The system uses voice-to-text technology to transcribe your response.
4. Get Instant Feedback: After each answer, the AI analyzes your response and provides a score (out of 100) along with detailed feedback on the content, clarity, and relevance of your answer.
5. Review Your Results: At the end of the session, you can review your overall performance and see a complete transcript of the interview, including all questions, your answers, and the AI's feedback.

This tool is designed to build your confidence, help you practice articulating your experience, and prepare you for the technical and behavioral questions you'll face in actual interviews.

Assistant

The S.A.I.L. Assistant is your personal AI-powered helper, available 24/7 to answer your maritime-related questions. It's designed to be your go-to resource for quick information, whether you're studying for an exam, troubleshooting equipment, or just curious about a specific topic.

How to use it:
1. Ask Questions: Simply type your question in natural language into the chat window. You can ask about STCW regulations, navigation procedures, engine maintenance, safety protocols, and much more.
2. Analyze Images: A powerful feature for visual problem-solving. You can upload a photo of a diagram, a piece of machinery, a warning light on a control panel, or a page from a manual. The assistant will analyze the image and provide an explanation, identify parts, or help you understand what you're looking at.

Examples of what you can do:
- Upload a photo of an engine diagram and ask, "What is this part and what does it do?"
- Ask, "What are the latest MARPOL Annex VI regulations regarding fuel oil?"
- Upload a picture of a safety sign and ask for its meaning.

CV

Your S.A.I.L. CV is a powerful tool to showcase your qualifications to potential employers. You can create and manage it easily from your profile.

How to create your CV:
1. Automatic Parsing: The fastest way to start is by uploading your existing resume file (like a PDF or DOCX). Go to the "Resume" section in your profile and use the upload feature. Our AI will parse the document and automatically fill in the relevant sections of your S.A.I.L. profile, such as work experience, skills, and contact information.
2. Manual Editing: You can also build your CV from scratch or edit the information parsed by the AI. Simply go through the different sections (Basic Information, Professional Skills, Language Skills, etc.) and fill in the fields manually.

Managing Your CV:
- Choose a Template: Select from a variety of professional templates to make your CV stand out. You can change the design at any time. Some premium templates may require a subscription.
- Preview: Before sharing, you can preview your CV as a PDF to see exactly how it will look to employers.
- Control Visibility: You have full control over who sees your resume. Use the "Visible to all" toggle to make your CV public and get a shareable link, or keep it private and use it only when applying for specific vacancies on the platform.

A complete and well-structured CV significantly increases your chances of being noticed by top shipping companies.

Documents

The "Documents" section is your secure digital wallet for all your maritime certificates and personal documents. Keeping your documents organized and up-to-date is crucial for your career.

How it works:
1. Upload: Go to the "Documents" section in your profile. You can upload scanned copies or photos of your certificates (like STCW, medical certificates), passport, seaman's book, and more.
2. Fill in Details: For each document, enter key information such as the document number, date of issue, and expiry date. This helps our system keep track of their validity.
3. Get Reminders: Our platform will automatically notify you when your documents are about to expire, so you can renew them in time.

Security and Privacy:
Your security is our top priority. All your uploaded documents and personal data are encrypted and stored securely on our servers. We adhere to strict data protection policies to ensure your information is safe and is only used to connect you with relevant job opportunities with your consent.

3. Smart Shortlisting: Our AI assists you by shortlisting the most suitable candidates for your vacancies, saving you valuable time in the recruitment process.

Assessments

The Assessments tool is designed for employers to create and manage customized tests to evaluate the knowledge of potential candidates. This feature allows you to go beyond the resume and verify a seafarer's real skills.

How it works for Employers:
1. Create an Assessment: Build a test by selecting questions from our extensive database, which covers various STCW topics and job-specific knowledge.
2. Invite Candidates: Send a unique link to the assessment to the candidates you want to evaluate.
3. Review Results: Once the candidate completes the test, you will receive a detailed report with their score and answers, giving you a clear picture of their competency.

This tool helps you make more informed hiring decisions by ensuring that the candidates you select have the proven knowledge required for the job.
