The Houthi militants in Yemen have warned 64 shipowners of consequences for trading with Israel, issuing sanction notices in late July. The group claims these vessels violate their naval blockade and are banned from the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb Strait, Gulf of Aden, and Arabian Sea, with threats of targeting. The latest escalation follows the sinking of two Greek-owned bulkers, dashing hopes of safe Red Sea passage. The Houthis also warn of potential sanctions expansion to entities dealing with violators.
